The course will run over a 4 week period on every Tuesday evening, see dates in the calander on the home page(Blue Dates).

The content includes most aspects of diabetes that we feel are important to achieving a long and fulfilling life with diabetes.

By the end of the 4 week course you will have achieved the following:

• Understand the basics of diabetes- the effects of insulin deficiency.
• Understand physiologic insulin replacement by understanding insulin types and profiles, pattern recognition, meal planning and exercise.
• Understand blood sugar targets.
• Recognise symptoms of high and low blood sugars, their causes and how to prevent and manage them.
• Understand the long term complications of diabetes and how to prevent them.
• Learn how to integrate diabetes management into activities of daily life.
• Learn how to transition from dependent to independent care.
• Learn how to master diabetes.
